The glow-wire test simulates the thermal stress caused by a glowing element, overloaded resistor, or similar heat or ignition source over a short period. It is used to assess the fire hazard risk using simulation techniques.
This test applies to electrical and electronic products, components, household appliance parts made of plastics, and non-metallic insulation materials, such as switch casings and relay sockets.
